Over the last 10-15 years, something called Covenant Groups, or Small Group Ministry, have become an important part of UU congregations. No matter what the congregation size or configuration, there is always need for spiritual growth and community building. On June 2nd, we will explore this concept and consider what it might mean for this congregation to develop a Covenant Group Program.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MAY 12, 2013 BOARD MEETING

Carol indicated that, as of the meeting, there were only eight pledges made, totaling $6100, for fiscal year 2013-14, which will not cover the expenses for the forthcoming year. She has received the $1,620 dues bill from UUA. She distributed the spreadsheet for the current year discussed items of interest. We are on track as we approach the close of the current fiscal year.

Glenn Earl indicated that he has received a bid of $2900 for the reconfiguration of the driveway, ADA walkway, and partial zeriscaping. Rick motioned for board approval of this work for $2900, or less, with Glenn’s oversight and supervision. Jen seconded. The motion carried by acclimation. Glenn indicated that members and friends will have to use the back door for entry/exit for 2 Sundays, while the work is being done.

Michelle Mitchell discussed potential fund raising options, including rummage sales and bazaars, zaroake, etc., and indicated that we should form a Fund Raising committee.

QUOTE FOR MEMORIAL DAY:

“If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go. Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own. And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind.” – Major Michael Davis O’Donnell, listed as KIA
